What it is
A submitted assessment produces one result for that farm and that reporting year, and you read it in two places.
The results page gives you the headline figures for a single farm: its carbon footprint, where the emissions came from, and how the farm did on a handful of performance measures. The farm report covers the same result in more depth, and sets the farm against the rest of your company's farms.
Both are built from results, so a farm only appears once its carbon assessment is Completed.
Finding a farm's results
In the left-hand menu, select Measurement, then Farm Emissions. The table lists every farm in your account with a completed carbon assessment, and carries a column for each headline figure.
- Select year narrows the table to one reporting year. It starts on all years and remembers the year you chose last.
- Search farms, Filters and Columns narrow the list and control which columns you see.
- Column Sums shows the sum, mean or median of each column.
- Compare results puts selected farms side by side. See Compare assessments.
Select the farm's name to open its results.
The results page
The farm's name sits at the top, with its farm code, reporting year, animal count and who last changed the assessment beneath. Three buttons sit alongside View Report: Back returns you to Farm Emissions, View Farm opens the farm's detail page, and Open Data Collection opens the assessment itself.
Four cards across the top carry what most reporting asks for: the farm's carbon footprint per unit of milk, its total emissions for the year, its milk production, and a certifiability score with a rating alongside it.
- Emissions Breakdown (Allocated) shows where those emissions came from, splitting the footprint across five sources — animal digestion, manure management, feed production, fertiliser and everything else — with each one's share and its tonnage. Switch between Allocated and Unallocated to change the figures shown.
- Performance & Sustainability covers how the farm is run rather than what it emitted. Expect measures of nitrogen use, grazing and grass-fed levels, concentrate use and fertiliser choice, each as a single figure for the year.
- Dry Matter Intake (DMI) per Animal Type closes the page with an intake figure for each class of animal in the herd.
Where a figure carries an information icon, hovering over it gives you a short description of what that figure covers. For units and how to read each one, see Dairy farm metrics.

Mitigation actions
Mitigation Actions sits at the foot of the results page. It brings together two kinds of mitigation strategy: the ones ODOS identifies as relevant from how the farm is actually run, and any your company has chosen to show on every farm. Each card names the strategy, the assumptions behind it, and what the farm's carbon footprint and total emissions would be if it were adopted.
The farm report covers the same ground in Emissions Reductions Potential, which adds what each strategy would do to each emission source.
Reading either of them, and setting the strategies behind them, is covered in Defaults and recommendations in the farm report.
The farm report
View Report opens the farm report in ODOS. It covers the same result in far more depth, and puts your company's other farms alongside the farm's own figures on most of what it shows. It is organised into numbered sections, and you can download it as a PDF.
Summary is the part most readers need. Key Results (Milk-Allocated) lists the farm's headline indicators in three columns — the farm's own figure, Company Avg and Top 25% — and the charts below it repeat that comparison, break the footprint down source by source, and split the total in a few other ways.
After the summary charts, Emissions Reductions Potential shows what each mitigation strategy would do to the footprint and which emission sources it would move.
The numbered sections that follow work back through the data the result was built from: the farm's milk and meat output, its herd, its farming practices, and its energy and fertiliser inputs. The last of them covers feed in detail — amounts, what the farm produced itself and what it bought in, and nutritional profiles.
If a figure looks wrong, start with those sections rather than the summary. They list the inputs the result was built from, so you can check them against your own records before assuming the result is at fault.

Why it matters for your results
Only completed assessments reach either screen. A farm you expected on Farm Emissions and cannot find is a data collection problem rather than a results problem — check the assessment's status.
The benchmark columns are your own company's farms, not an industry figure. They move as more of your farms are completed, so a comparison run early in a reporting cycle is not the one you will finish with. A company with one completed farm sees that farm's own figure in all three columns.
What you see is always the latest submitted result. Submitting an assessment again after a change replaces the result, and no history of past results is kept.
Key terms
- Farm report — the longer, sectioned view of one farm's result, opened with View Report.
- Company Avg and Top 25% — the benchmark columns in the report. Both are drawn from the completed farms in your own company.
- Allocated and unallocated — two views of the same result. Which one your reporting needs is a methodology question rather than a platform one.
